Reis Magos
(Three Kings) Fort
Praia do Forte s/n
This star-shaped fort was originally
built by the Portuguese on the reefs
near the mouth of the River Potengi,
to protect the local population from
the French privateers involved in
the Brazil wood trade. Nowadays the
Fort is a museum where visitors can
see the mark of the discovery of Brazil
(which was taken there in the 1990s),
and can also see the lodgings, prisons,
cannon and a chapel with a freshwater
