City
tour of Natal with southern coast
Beginning in the morning at the hotels
in Ponta Negra, the tour proceeds
along the Coastal Highway to the city
beaches and Fortaleza dos Reis Magos,
where there’s a short stop to
visit the fortress. After driving
through the districts of Santos Reis,
Rocas and Ribeira – where the
town began –, the city centre
and cathedral, we visit the craft
centre to browse and buy souvenirs.
Morro do Careca (“Bald Hill”)
in Ponta Negra on the edge of Natal,
is seen on the way to the beach of
Pirangi, 24 km away, where we’ll
have time to visit the largest cashew
tree in the world and bathe in the
calm waters.

By noon, we'll get to a house of shows, where we can enjoy the traditional forró dance, typical from the northeast side of Brazil, with dancers that won't leave anyone stop. The repentista or embolador de coco, represents the most typical figure of our potiguar music well known as Cantorio Potiguar, he brings this humor tone and amusement to the night. 04 hours.

Buggy
trip along the northern coast
A full-day excursion
follows the beaches of Redinha, Santa
Rita, Genipabu, Barra do Rio, Graçandu
and Pitangui to Jacumã. On
the way, we climb the famous dunes
of Genipabu, where the most exciting
part of the trip takes place: buggy
riding through the dunes, stopping
at three great freshwater lagoons
— Genipabu, Pitangui and Jacumã.
There’s time for bathing in
a location with bar and leisure facilities,
such as sand tobogganing.

Maracajaú
70 km from Natal, Maracajaú
is known as the “Brazilian Caribbean”
and offers all then excitement and
natural beauty of a beach untouched
by urbanisation. A great attraction
is diving in the parrachos —
3 metre-deep reef formations that
cover 15 square km about 7 km offshore.
The facilities include floats that
encourage even the least experienced.
There’s free time for lunch.

Pipa Beach
Leaving Natal in the morning and following the BR 101 highway, after 90 km we reach the municipality of Tibau do Sul and one of the coast's most charming spots - the beach of Pipa. Considered to be one of Brazil's ten most beautiful beaches, there are cliffs where part of the Atlantic Rainforest is preserved, overlooking a chain of coves. We will visit the beach of Baía dos Golfinhos ("Dolphin Bay") , with a stop for swimming, and the village of Pipa and its stores. The beach of Amor will be reached by an typical train with a wonderful cliff view.

Cunhaú
After breakfast,
we take the BR 101 highway for 90
km to Capela dos Mártires de
Cunhaú, a chapel built in tribute
to the only Brazilians ever to be
made saints by the Catholic Church.
Following this brief stop, visitors
are taken up the estuary of the River
Cunhaú, where shrimp farms
can be seen, then to the beach of
Cunhaú. This pleasant spot,
with tide pools at the confluence
of river and sea, has excellent cuisine.
The tour finishes with a boat trip
on the River Cunhaú to see
the mangroves where local fishermen
catch crabs and enchanting mini-beaches
appear at low tide.

Baía
Formosa
Located 100 km down the southern coast,
near the border with Paraíba
State, Baía Formosa is a traditional
fishing village and favourite surfing
spot, as beautiful and charming as
the name (“Shapely Bay”)
suggests.
An optional buggy trip takes vistors
to a manatee reproduction area on
the River Guaju. Nearby there’s
an Atlantic Rainforest reservation
with a wealth of flora and fauna,
plus a lagoon with reddish-brown waters
nicknamed the “Coca-Cola Lake”.
The trip includes several of the region’s
beaches.

Passeios
das Águas
Leaving in buggies
for the southern coast, our first
stop is at the beach of Búzios,
where we proceed through the dunes,
appreciating the cliffs and wonderful
views, including the Barra de Tabatinga
viewpoint. The beach of Camurumpim
is followed by the region of the lakes
of Arituba and Carcará and
a visit to a cachaça distillery
for tasting. Passing the town of Nísia
Floresta, we reach an old disused
railway station that has been converted
into a restaurant, our venue for lunch.
After a short rest, the excursion
proceeds to a pottery in São
José de Mipibu. The sugarcane
fields and an Atlantic Rainforest
reservation complete the uniquely
beautiful landscape, a visit to the
Lacemakers of Alcaçuz concluding
the trip.

Alma
Do Nordeste (the soul of the North
East)
Our tour begins by travelling south
to the town of Brejinho, where we
vsist a manioc mill and see the process
of making manioc flour. On arriving
at Parque Pedra da Boca, a 40-minute
walk provides an opportunity to see
the indigenous rock paintings and
the flora and fauna of the region.
Lunch (included) is at Bom Jardim
farm, with local dishes, followed
by a chance to see how the plantation
owners – called “colonels”
– used to live, with antique
furniture and historical exhibits.
There will also be horses available
for a pleasant ride.

Capoeira
(something between a dance and a martial
art)
Leaving in the
evening, this excursion is an encounter
with the purest of folk culture. In
the outskirts of Natal we will enter
the world of capoeira in the community
of Capoeira Boa Vontade, a group of
capoeira artists and masters who teach
children their art, as well as promoting
citizenship by carrying out educational
and health work.

Galinhos
A semi-deserted beach 170 km from
Natal on the Costa Branca —
the northern coast of the state —,
with a population of around 2 thousand,
the village of Galinhos is on a small
peninsula reached only by boat, the
coach remaining on the quay. Mangroves,
dunes, salt pans and oilfields make
up the landscape, fascinating tourists
that come to discover this fishing
village where carts are used as taxis
and the only cars are the visitors’
4x4s. It’s a day of complete
relaxation in this unique, secluded
corner of the Rio Grande do Norte
coastline where everything happens
very slowly.

Praias do litoral Norte by bus
Passeio de dia inteiro com saída do hotel em ônibus, atravessando a ponte de todos sobre o rio potengi e seguindo pelas praias de Redinha e Santa Rita. Continuaremos em ônibus até a praia de Jacumã, onde teremos tempo para banho de mar. O retorno é realizado em ônibus até o hotel.
Opcional de buggy: Em Santa Rita poderemos seguir em buggy pelas praias de Jenipabú, Barra do Rio, Graçandu, Pitangui, até chegar à de Jacumã. . No percurso, subida às famosas dunas de jenipabú onde se realiza a parte mais emocionante deste passeio: as evoluções de buggy nas dunas, além de parada em três grandes lagoas naturais Jenipabú, Pitangui e Jacumã.
Este roteiro poderá ser realizado de forma inversa, iniciando-se em Jacumã e terminando em Santa Rita..
