Salvador
is the second most popular destination
for foreign tourists in the country
and one of those most visited by Brazilians
themselves. It is considered to be
one of the most beautiful cities in
the world.
The city is renowned for its originality,
its music, cuisine, religious ceremonies
and its very own “martial art”,
called capoeira. It was also the birthplace
of many famous artists and has had
great influence within Brazil and
internationally.
The mostly commonly-found musical
rhythms in the region are axé,
pagode, forró, arrocha and
samba. But Brazilian Popular Music
(MPB) and rock are also popular in
Bahia and the region has attracted
the interest of many Brazilian Record
producers.
The visitor to Salvador can go to
the beach in the morning, walk around
the historical city centre in the
afternoon and at night dine in one
of the city’s fine restaurants,
followed by dancing at the carnival
clubs or to the sound of local hits.
So, as they say in Salvador: "Smile!
You’re in Bahia ".

Although
it is always hot in Salvador, the temperature ranging from
23°C to 35°C, the city’s coastal location means
there is always a sea breeze, which makes for a very pleasant
climate.
