Salvador was the first capital city of Brazil and is
also known as the “Happy City”, renowned
for its multiculturalism. Each year, its famous carnival
attracts millions of revellers, who parade alongside
carnival floats and troupes along the city streets.
The party atmosphere lasts all year round, in the surroundings
of 50 km of gorgeous beaches. There is also a great
diversity of cultures and creeds, with more than thirty
Catholic churches rubbing shoulders with the sacred
rites of the African animist religion known as Candomblé.
